How to Prepare Shungite Water

March 29, 2023 2 min read

Cleaning the shungite chips
Sterilize 200g shungite chips in boiling water for 10 minutes. Cool, then rinse thoroughly. Don’t use soap.

Making your first batch of shungite water
Place the well-rinsed shungite chips in a 2 litre glass or ceramic container. Fill with cold tap water or filtered water.  Use 2 liter of water for each 200g of shungite chips.

Let the water stand with the shungite chips for 24 -72 hours. The container must be open to breathe during this process. A thin, natural fibre cloth can be used to cover the container to exclude dust and insects.

Using shungite-infused water
Pour the shungite-infused water into another lidded glass or ceramic container. This water is the finished water, ready for use. Refill the original shungite container with tap or filtered water to prepare a new batch.
In Russia, shungite water is typically used therapeutically, and not on a full-time basis. Work up to using 2-3 glasses of shungite water per day. Shungite water is great for skin and hair, and for minor wounds. Pets and plants respond well to this water.

Maintenance
Once per month, put the shungite chips outside to recharge in the sun for an hour. Sterilize the container at regular intervals. Replace the shungite chips with new chips approximately every 1- 2 years, depending on the quality of the source water.

Logging trees in Vancouver's Stanley Park
The City of Vancouver has spent $19 million on logging the trees of Stanley Park.

November 18, 2025 2 min read

The City of Vancouver has spent $19 million on logging Stanley Park. There is no basis in science to justify what the City is doing. The City made a deal with one forestry contractor, involving $19 million dollars, without getting a second opinion and without input from the public. The logging contracts were awarded to the same outfit that "assessed" the park and made the recommendations to log the trees.
Moreover, money paid to the contractor was obtained secretly... transactions that were only discovered because of a lawsuit launched by the Stanley Park Preservation Society in an effort to stop the logging.

August 12, 2025 4 min read

Calgary is, once again, adding fluoride to its municipal water supply... a controversial practice which presents a challenge for residents who do not wish to drink or bathe in fluoridated water. Fluoride is very difficult to remove from tap water…much more challenging to remove than chlorine and other potential health hazards found in municipal water supplies. A simple water filter will not accomplish this task. Your best solutions for removing fluoride from drinking water are…
