The City of Vancouver has spent $19 million on logging Stanley Park. There is no basis in science to justify what the City is doing. The City made a deal with one forestry contractor, involving $19 million dollars, without getting a second opinion and without input from the public. The logging contracts were awarded to the same outfit that "assessed" the park and made the recommendations to log the trees.
Moreover, money paid to the contractor was obtained secretly... transactions that were only discovered because of a lawsuit launched by the Stanley Park Preservation Society in an effort to stop the logging.

Watermatters is not a fan of 3-letter government agencies such as the EPA. However, we are also not sympathetic with Berkey’s dilemma, which includes other legal challenges that have been eclipsed by the fanfare about the EPA Stop Sale/Pesticide issue. The owner of Berkey has emerged from concealment to portray Berkey as a victim...an all-too-common tactic that is deflecting attention away from Berkey’s real shortcomings.
