WH2 Whole House Filtration System - CHLORAMINE

Whole House CHLORAMINE Filter – Cartridge Style

Chloramine is a water treatment method used to disinfect drinking water instead of using chlorine. Victoria, Abbotsford and Mission, BC are among the by many water districts in North America that disinfect municipal drinking water with chloramine. Producing chloramine involves chlorine followed by the addition of ammonia.

Chloramine is much harder to filter than chlorine. Chloramine filtration requires a more expensive quality of carbon in greater volumes plus slower water flow rates so that the chloraminated water has sufficient contact time with the specialty carbon for the chloramine to be adsorbed.

This two stage whole house water filtration system is configured specifically for use with municipally treated water that has been disinfected with choramine.

This whole home water filter system is meant to be installed immediately after the water supply enters your home and before it reaches your hot water heater.

It adsorbs chloramine from all water routed through the filter before reaching hot and cold taps, showers and baths.

Quiet, compact, efficient, inexpensive, simple to maintain. This whole home water filter does not waste water other than during the initial flush of new cartridges. Once installed, most home owners can maintain the system without the help or expense of a plumber. This cartridge-style whole house system does not require a connection to electricity or a drain.

Whole house filters are also known as POE (Point of Entry) systems because they are installed immediately after the water supply line enters your home and before it gets to your hot water heater.

Whole house filters (POE) process large volumes of water at fast flow rates. Consequently they are not capable of the fine-tuned filtration provided by a high quality Point of Use (POU) drinking water filter which can be designed for more thorough filtration and targeting difficult-to-remove contaminants by cleaning smaller amounts of water at slower flow rates. We highly recommend using a point of use – drinking water filter in conjunction with your whole house filter.

For use with municipally treated water. Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe.

Product Details

This point of entry water filtration system consists of two heavy duty canister-style housings mounted on a sturdy steel bracket. The first canister contains a dual gradient density sediment filter. The second canister contains a high performance catalytic carbon cartridge. Materials and components are NSF-approved to Standard 42 for material requirements.

The stage one sediment cartridge is a fine dual gradient density (25/1 micron) filter for high flow rates plus great dirt holding capacity for protecting and prolonging the service life of the carbon filter, your plumbing and appliances. The life of the sediment cartridge will be determined by the quantity and characteristics of the incoming water. It should be changed when the flow rate becomes noticeably slower. This cartridge is made of spun polypropylene and is NSF tested and certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for quality of materials.

The stage two carbon filter is a heavy duty radial flow design which enables fast flow rates with minimal pressure drop while providing excellent chloramine reduction. The change-out frequency of this cartridge will be determined by the quantity and quality of the water supplied to the filtration system and should not exceed one year.

This entire whole house filtration system is configured for minimal pressure drop and flow rate up to 5 gpm. For circumstances requiring higher flow rates, two systems can be installed in parallel.

The filter system comes with the two canister housings with pressure relief button pre-mounted on the steel mounting bracket, the initial set of cartridges, a filter wrench and mounting screws.

We recommend that this whole home water filtration system be installed by a licensed plumber who can supply the appropriate size of fittings to connect it to your water supply line plus pressure gauges (recommended), water shut-off valves, a water by-pass (recommended) and any other equipment required by your local plumbing code. The filter will install on PVC and metal pipe.

The system can be wall-mounted and should be installed with at least 4 inches of clearance below the housings to allow for cartridge changes.

FAQs

How do I guestimate how long before I should expect to have to change out my whole house water filter cartridges?

Water consumption calculations are typically based on 75 gallons per day per person.
An active four person household might consume 300 gallons of water per day.
If the filter is rated at 25,000 gallons (chloramine filter), capacity would be reached after approximately 3 months of use. Local and onsite water quality will also influence filter service life.
