Applications for Shungite & Shungite Water

April 09, 2023 3 min read

Shungite has been used for medical treatment since the early 1700’s. It has a history of use in Russian sanatoriums for the prevention and treatment of allergies, anemia, arthritis, asthma, cardiovascular disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, colds, dyspepsia, diabetes, edema, gallbladder problems, gastritis, headaches, immune system problems, impotence, joint problems, kidney disease, liver disease and pancreatic disease.

Shungite has been successfully used for:
  1. Water purification
Shungite has an established reputation for purifying water. It has been used to clean organic compounds, heavy metals, chlorine, ammonia, nitrates, bacteria and harmful microorganisms from water. Shungite water is great for making tea and soups. It is beneficial for birds, animals and plants. Aquariums stay clean longer, with stabilized pH, when shungite stone is placed in water.

  2. Skin & hair
Shungite has wonderful properties for the skin. Washing face and body with shungite-infused water may improve skin elasticity, clear up acne, rashes and skin irritations. Shungite water restores shine to hair and helps prevent hair loss.

  3. Systemic disorders
Shungite has been venerated in Russian households and spas for 300 years because of its effectiveness for healing a broad range of maladies from simple wounds to digestive, muscular, circulatory, respiratory, dermal and neural disorders.

  4. Radiation & electro-smog protection
Shungite stone is used to counteract and neutralize electromagnetic, radioactive and geopathic emissions. In Russia, it is used in building materials as a shield from harmful radiations.

  5. Energy healing
Shungite stone is popular with practitioners of bio-energetic healing modalities for balancing and energizing the body and for harmonizing discordant environmental energies.
In Russia, the health-related benefits of shungite have been applied by various means, including:
  • Internal and external use of shungite-infused water
  • External application of shungite paste
  • Spending time in a shungite room (walls, floor and ceiling covered with shungite)

Benefits of shungite-infused water
Shungite-infused water supports biological processes due to its natural antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, catalytic, adsorbant, adaptogenic and immune supporting properties.

Shungite water contains fullerenes which are effective at mopping up free radicals that damage living tissue. This may explain why shungite-infused water has a history of improving skin conditions and helping to arrest neural damage in diseased conditions caused by radicals.

Shungite water appears to normalize cellular metabolism, increase enzyme activity and stimulate the body’s ability to regenerate healthy tissues. It has a soothing, anti-inflammatory effect while providing antihistamine relief and improving immunity.

Dermatological and allergic conditions seem to be particularly responsive to this water. Shungite-infused water may accelerate wound healing, relieve itching, rashes and skin irritations, restore hair shine. It is known to assist with eliminating kidney stones, liver toxicity and diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

Shungite water is used therapeutically. It is not meant to be used on a full time basis.

In 2006, Russian researchers convened at a congress (in Petrozavodsk, Karelia) devoted to shungite. To date, most medical and scientific studies involving shungite are available in Russian only.

Logging trees in Vancouver's Stanley Park
The City of Vancouver has spent $19 million on logging the trees of Stanley Park.

November 18, 2025 2 min read

The City of Vancouver has spent $19 million on logging Stanley Park. There is no basis in science to justify what the City is doing. The City made a deal with one forestry contractor, involving $19 million dollars, without getting a second opinion and without input from the public. The logging contracts were awarded to the same outfit that "assessed" the park and made the recommendations to log the trees.
Moreover, money paid to the contractor was obtained secretly... transactions that were only discovered because of a lawsuit launched by the Stanley Park Preservation Society in an effort to stop the logging.

Methods to remove fluoride from Calgary’s tap water

August 12, 2025 4 min read

Calgary is, once again, adding fluoride to its municipal water supply... a controversial practice which presents a challenge for residents who do not wish to drink or bathe in fluoridated water. Fluoride is very difficult to remove from tap water…much more challenging to remove than chlorine and other potential health hazards found in municipal water supplies. A simple water filter will not accomplish this task. Your best solutions for removing fluoride from drinking water are…
